The Turin based musician, Sergio Merletti, is a rising star of the italian and international scenes. Young and brillant he won important prices and great critics already from his first steps as a musician. A son of the soprano Silvana Moyso, develops his love for music since from the first years of his life. Rossini's fervor and Bach's monumental simplicity overwhelmed with passion his studies at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in his hometown, Turin. Sergio starts studying piano at the age of 10 and, some years later, the opera and bel canto world brought him to a deep development as a opera pianist, score and vocal coach simultaneously with his solo piano career. He achieved the graduation in piano in the year 2005 under the guidance of Mariaclara Monetti with highest honours. He completed his cycle of pianist' studies with Annamaria Cigoli and graduate in 2008 as a concert pianist once again with highest honours. His need of a deeper contact with music brings him to study as composer and conductor achieving the graduation in June and October 2009. His principal mentor in the studies as a conductor is M° Donato Renzetti. As a pianist he took part to the important masterclasses by Aldo Ciccolini (2004), Joaquìn Achùcarro (2005), Jeffrey Swann (2006) and with Pietro De Maria (2008). Among many other he can mention the first prize "Fondazione CRT" in 2006 and the winning of three scolarship by the italian state as pianist tutor in Conservatorio in Turin (2005/2006, 2008/2009, 2011/2012). He worked together with great artists such as the violinist Vadim Brodsky, the flute player Peters Lukas-Graf and the soprano Eva Mei. He is constantly in touch as a correpetitor with the tenor Andrea Carè and the sopranos Anna Pirozzi and Monica Tarone. In 2006 he was soloist in the concert n.5 op. 73, "Imperatore", by Beethoven for piano and orchestra, together with the Youth Simphony Orchestra of Piemonte at the Mozart concert hall in Ivrea. From 2005 to 2008 he followed all the masterclasses by Annamaria Cigoli and develops his repertoire as a specialist of Liszt and Rachmaninov mastering in many important concert and receiving prices and honor mentions. He developed his repertoire, because of the cooperation with the saxophonist Maurizio Rosa in 2003, adding Debussy, Hindemith, Glazunov, Piazzolla and contemporary composers to his concerts. He cooperate with the soprano Silvana Moyso as pianist in all her concerts and masterclasses from 2003 taking part as pianist, correpetitor and conductor in the productions of La traviata, Rigoletto, The Merry Widow and Le nozze di Figaro. He performed in the most important concert halls of his city like Teatro Regio, Mazda Palace, Teatro Colosseo Auditorium Orpheus, Aula Magna del Politecnico Aula Magna del Rettorato, Teatro Alfieri, Teatro Vittoria, Teatro Carignano, Circolo della Stampa e Circolo dei Lettori where he performed at the opening ceremony with an acclaimed Liszt recital. In 2008 he is Maestro and director of the children choir of Teatro Regio in Turin during the production of the opera Anna by E. Ferrando. He often cooperates with the Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia as assistant and substitute conductor of M° Guido Maria Guida. He also cooperates with coro Maghini, the association Antidogma and the Festival MITO for Settembre Musica. He is a constant refer for the Voice Academy in Piemonte where he plays for the masterclassess by C. Desderi, A. Corbelli, S. Lowe, M. Devia, L.D'Intino and R. Blake and being a performer in many concerts organized by the academy. With his mentor Annamaria Cigoli starts an important cooperation performing with her in a repertoire for two pianos in many important venues in Italy. He played for the italian television in a TV series such as "Rivombrosa", "La donna della domenica" and performing la polacca op. 53 "Eroica" by F. Chopin in the movie "Tutta colpa della musica" by R. Tognazzi. He receive an important price "Golden Talent 2010" by the video-magazine web INNTV for his career as pianist, composer and conductor. In November 2011, working on a commission by the writer Chicca Morone, he made his debuts as composer and conductor in the opera "Saffo, una donna fuori dal tempo", a chamber opera for soprano and 5 instruments developed in one act and three scenes.
The performance took place in the Conservatorio in Turin with lyrics by Chicca Morone, the soprano Anna Pirozzi and the dance by Laura Comi achieving great success between audience and critics. He develops an important cooperation with the poet and friend Stefano Luti working as a composer for the association Antidogma in Turin. He wrote songs, arias and lyrical poems for small ensembles. In January 2014 he started in Parma a long tournée of recitals with the tenor Alejandro Escobar with the great South American repertoire in a program called "Aquarela latinoamericana". In January 2013 for the Wagnerian celebrations played in a concert called "Happy birthday Wagner" with the Accademia Corale Stefano Tempia in Teatro Vittoria in Torino with a program of Liszt's transcriptions. In June 2014 he conducts the Youth Orchestra of Liguria in the theater Casinò in Sanremo. In July he starts a cooperation with the lyrical society F. Tamagno conduction "Czardas princess" at the theater G. Verdi in Acqui Terme and in March 2015 Bohème at the Teatro Comunale in Casale Monferrato.
